Great styling ideas from a single recent show: trendy, modern, and effortlessly wearable
What more do you need.
This one’s coming a little later than usual due to some travel and illness (the usual), but it's no less relevant. I knew I wanted to do this story as soon as fashion month wrapped up.
I watch fashion shows the way people binge Netflix series. I’m after everything: inspiration, information, ideas, broader context of the industry, trends, models and, of course, fresh styling ideas that are applicable right away. The fact that the actual pieces won’t hit stores for six months and will likely come with a hefty price tag is not my concern.
People often ask which influencers I follow on Instagram, and my answer is: I don’t follow influencers — I follow the industry. That’s where I get my inspiration, and it’s fun to see what sticks after consuming so much content. Of course, I follow everyone for work purposes, but influencers mostly reflect what’s trending or which products brands are pushing, rather than offering me a true style inspiration, aside from like three exceptions.
If you‘re following M Edits Instagram or my personal account, you might’ve seen a few genuine obsessions post-shows. Mostly Prada, Miu Miu and Bottega, but I loved way more.
As mentioned, I knew it that I need to share this one with you and here is why.
There's a fine line between staying fashionable, looking polished and updated, and not crossing into looking ridiculous—like you just jumped off your 15-year-old daughter's, niece’s, or a trendy 20-something's Instagram page, especially when you're no longer 25. Have you noticed that?
A female designer masters this balance better than anyone. Phoebe Philo, of course. But for a more practical take and a wider appeal, with a bit more sass, to me, it’s Stella McCartney.
She knows exactly what we want. I've followed her career from the very beginning, and her aesthetic has remained consistent. Her 'girl'—now a woman, much like Stella McCartney herself in her 40s — has always been, for lack of a better word, cool. Modern, hot, presentable, interesting, trendy on point and never novelty-ridiculous.

Blue shirt is a wardrobe staple
It is. Heading to work, going out, weekends, a great style staple and in my case the essential summer beach staple as shown here.
